Conferința internațională “Incompleteness, New Axioms and Truth”

The Faculty of History and Philosophy wishes to announce a two-day conference: “Incompleteness, New Axioms and Truth” which will be held at the Faculty of History and Philosophy on 5-6 December, 2025.

The aim of the conference is to bring together researchers (both mathematicians and philosophers) in the foundations of mathematics to discuss recent key developments in contemporary set theory, in particular (but not exclusively) a new class of strong axioms of infinity contradicting the Axiom of Choice as well as their consequences on a broad range of issues, including set-theoretic undecidability, mathematical truth, the justification of the axioms and the nature of the universe of sets.

The conference is the final event of Dr. Claudio Ternullo’s PNRR-I9 (MSCA Seal of Excellence)-funded project held between 2024 and 2025 in the Department of Philosophy of the UBB, Cluj-Napoca: “Self-Similarity, Large Cardinals and Incompleteness (SELFLARINC).”

The conference will be held in presence, but it will also be broadcast on Zoom:
