Conferința Weltanschauung as a Strategy for Popular Philosophy, Dr. Michael S. Jones

Facultatea de Istorie și Filosofie prin Centrul de Filosofie Aplicată și Asociația pentru Promovarea Filosofiei vă invită la conferința Weltanschauung as a Strategy for Popular Philosophy susținută de către Dr. Michael S. Jones (Liberty University/SUA & Universitatea Lucian Blaga din Sibiu). Evenimentul va avea loc vineri, 3 aprilie 2026, de la ora 18.00, în sala D.D. Roșca, Clădirea Centrală a UBB Cluj-Napoca, str. M. Kogălniceanu nr. 1, etaj 1. Conferința se va desfășura în limba engleză.

The event is hosted by the Department of Philosophy/Centre for Applied Philosophy at the Babeș-Bolyai University of Cluj-Napoca, Romania. The event will take place in the D.D. Roșca Room, M. Kogălniceanu Street No 1, 1st floor. 

Summary: Philosophy departments around the world face enrollment challenges. One reason for this is that many people perceive philosophy as being too abstract and don’t see its relevance to their lives. Dr. Michael S. Jones, Professor of Philosophy at Liberty University (USA) and Visiting Professor at Lucian Blaga University of Sibiu (RO), argues that Kant’s concept of “weltanschauung” (worldview) can be used effectively to help people understand philosophy’s relevance to their own lives.
