The Romanian Academy, the Center for Transylvanian Studies, the Institute of History of the Karl Franzens University Graz and the Faculty of History and Philosophy will host in Cluj Napoca, on 12-14 October 2015, the international conference The First World War. The Other Faces of the War.

will host in Cluj Napoca, on 12-14 October 2015, the international conference The First World War. The Other Faces of the War. The event is part of the National Program ROMANIA 100, in the framework of which the Romanian Academy and Babeş-Bolyai University will carry out a number of scientific and cultural projects throughout 2014–2020.

The conference will be structured into several sections, dealing with both the „home” front and the „hot” front, and the subsequent attitudes of the authorities and of the population. The official language of the conference is English. The intention of the organizers is to first and foremost assess the impact and the perception of the war in all the European states involved during 1915, and also to carry out a survey of the historiography in order to provide a better framework for future research.

 

Registration fees:
  • -early registration, 01.06.2015-31.08.2015 75 euro
  • - standard registration, payment at location 100 euro

 

The registration fee includes:
  • -participation to the Welcome Reception
  • -accommodation at the Babeş-Bolyai University Hotel (for the nights of 12/13, 13/14 and 14/15 October 2015)
  • -conference materials
  • -refreshments during the conference (coffee breaks)
  • -2 lunches

 

However, participants will have to cover their transportation costs.

Please confirm your participation in the event by May 31 2015, at the latest and send us a brief CV, the title of your paper and an abstract in English (approx. 300 words). The conference papers will be subjected to a peer review procedure and published in volume format by the Center for Transylvanian Studies.
