Ştefan Ghenciulescu, The Image of Architects and the Image of Architecture: A discussion concerning attitudes towards modernity in Romania today

The article discusses the relationship between architects and Romanian transition society. However, the essay does not focus on a discussion about the amount of guilt to be attributed to either architects or society for the development of Romania during the transition period. It prefers to reflect on the relation between the architectural models (and views) within the profession and within society.  The essay deals with the issue of modernity and modernism as an architectural style and/or attitude (in the sense of guiding principles) as well as its acceptance or rejection as a model in Romanian architecture.
