International Conference Migration Dynamics and New Trends in European (In)Security, Seventh Edition, Cluj-Napoca, July, 25-26, 2020
(For details see the Conference programme, Zoom recording, Participants’ PowerPoint presentations) The seventh edition of the international conference Migration Dynamics and New Trends in European (In)Security coverd two separate but interconnected topics: on one hand, the migration issues, involving topics related to societal security, identity(ies), minority issues, with special focus on the migration issues and on the other hand security studies. The president of the International Conference is Prof. Adrian Liviu IVAN, PhD and the moderator of this event was Lecturer Claudia Anamaria Iov,PhD. In the context of Covid-19 pandemics, we have postponed this activity, planned for May, 07th-09th, 2020, and we’ve changed it with a Zoom conference. During the two-days conference, experts, professors, researchers, PhD candidates, post-doc fellows, civil society activists, students and many more exchanged their views on conference topics. The novelty of this years edition was the Workshop on Migrants and the COVID-19 pandemic: from theory to practice, held by Lecturer Claudia Anamaria Iov,PhD. 2019 Some of the materials presented at the conference were published in Research and Science Today Journal, No. 2(18)/2019. (For details see https://www.rstjournal.com/rst-218-2019/). The sixth edition of the international conference Migration Dynamics and New Trends in European (In)Security covered two separate but interconnected topics: on one hand, the migration issues, involving topics related to societal security, identity(ies), minority issues, with special focus on the migration and refugee issues and on the other hand security studies. The event, successfully launched in 2013 in the frame of the Jean Monnet Life Long Learning Programme, established itself as a visible academic event for the field of international relations and security studies. The president of the International Conference is Prof. Adrian Liviu IVAN, PhD, the Module Leader. During the three-days conference, keynotes, experts, professors, researchers, PhD candidates, post-doc fellows, civil society activists, consultants, policy advocates and many more exchanged their views on conference topics. The novelty of this years edition was the Workshop Every little thing helps – Mine, Yours, Ours: The Integral Dynamics of Migration, Culture, and Diversity, held by the keynote speaker of the conference, Varsha N.JD, from ROAR Training and Consulting, LLC, Los Angeles, CA (For details see the Bios of the keynote speaker). A special moment was dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Jean Monnet Activities in the EU- 30 Years of Excellence in EU studies. The moment was market by a presentation on Migration dynamics in the 21th Century – security, diversity and integration : from theory to practice, by Scientific Researcher Claudia Anamaria Iov, PhD, member of the implementation team of the Jean Monnet Module. The speaker delivered an interesting presentation and an intensive Q&A session took place at the end of the event. Other events in 2019 Fourth meeting of the Debate Club “Together4EU”, October, 2nd, 2019, at Babeş-Bolyai University. The topic debated was EU-RO(IN)Security - EU-ROMobility - EU-ROMintegration. The event brought together 15 students and gave them the chance to valorise their knowledge. Workshop (Re)thinking education in a formal/non-formal way for European studies, October, 10th, 2019, Babeş-Bolyai University. The event brought together over 35 professors, specialists and students. The activity introduced teachers to the concept of non-formal /informal education, facilitated the dialogue and created a community of professors willing to work together in making European studies a desired and attractive class for students.These issues cut across some of the most sensitive topics in contemporary European society: diversity, communication, human rights, tolerance and non-discrimination. The event brought together 27 professors, specialists and students. First meeting of the Debate Club “Together4EU”, May 25th, 2018, at Babeş-Bolyai University. The topic debated was The Domain of Security Studies: Should It Enlarge or Not? The debate club gave 15 students the chance to valorise their knowledge and to develope competences of critical thinking.
