Cluj Ethnographic Park: exploring the past of rural Transylvania

The Ethnographic Park in Cluj, which bears the name of its founder, the ethnographer Romulus Vuia (1887-1963), is the ideal setting for a promising journey into the history of rural Transylvania. Established in 1929, the Ethnographic Park, outdoor section of the Transylvanian Museum of Ethnography, is the first open-air museum in Romania. Located on a surface of 14 hectares, it includes over 50 objects, representing various aspects of the rural life of Transylvania between 18th-20th centuries: households, churches, mills and other technical installations, but also fruit trees, free from any chemicals for over half a century. The programme of the event will include a musical moment, the performance of old traditions and a rustic Transylvanian dinner, offered by expert chefs of local delicacies, where participants will have the unique chance to re-discover the authentic flavours of the past.

Distance: 3 km from the city centre, 10-20 min. by bus (subject traffic)

The Ethnographic Museum of Transylvania and the Ethnographic Park of Cluj can be visited by the participants of the conference free on Wednesday and Thursday from 10 AM until 18 PM.
