Medicine and Philosophy 1: Humoral Theory

The workshop “Medicine and Philosophy: the longue durée of humoral theory” took place on May 10 and 11, 2019 at the University of Cluj. It was organized by the Team of the project, in collaboration with The Groningen Centre for Medieval and Early Modern Thought. Papers on different aspects of humoral theory in the Middle Ages, as well as its transformations in the Renaissance and in Early Modern authors, were held. The discussions were open and stimulating, trying to grasp the transforming nature of notions like “humors”, “complexion” and “vapors”.

A detailed review of the workshop by the organizers Martin Lenz and Evelina Miteva was published in Bulletin de philosophie médiévale (see E. Miteva, M. Lenz, “Workshop on Medicine and Philosophy: The longue durée of humoral theory, Cluj-Napoca”, in Bulletin de philosophie médiévale, 61/2019, Brepols)

Here are some pictures from the event in its academic and leisure part.
