Medicine and Philosophy II: CLIMATE

The workshop “Medicine and Philosophy” is taking place for a second time.

After the successful international workshop “Medicine and Philosophy: the longue durĂ©e of humoral theory,” which we organized in cooperation with University of Groningen in May 2019 in Cluj, we decided to discuss once again on the intersection of medicine and philosophy and to focus on “Climate”. The historical notion of “climate” influences various aspects of natural or moral philosophy, theology and geography. Climate describes not only the earth, but also its inhabitants. It wraps up some of the prejudices of its epoch, and opens debates that often had long lasting historical effects. We have gathered talks on these various aspects of climate theory from 12th to 17th centuries.

The outbreak of coronavirus has prevented the workshop to happen in its traditional format. Here you can however have a look at the original PROGRAM, the talks and topics. We will keep you posted with further news!
